Channel 5’s Milkshake Presenters visited West Hill Primary School this week. The children’s TV stars were filmed at the school for a programme that will be aired next month. Nathan, Kiana and Kiera spent the morning at West Hill to celebrate Black History month which is in October. Mrs Healy the Co-Headteacher commented “The children thoroughly enjoyed listening to the stories and are all very excited about the prospect of being on Channel 5 for their five minutes of fame”

The presenters visited West Hill to share some multicultural stories with the children in Key Stage 1. The children aged between 5 and 7 were filmed in the school’s Creative Hub listening to the stories and having fun with their TV heroes. Lily in Year 1 was delighted that the TV stars came to visit her school “The stories they read us were so fun”. Another Year 1 child Sayt said “We laughed a lot when they read us the stories about the fruit”.

Creative and Digital Producer for Channel 5 Kamal Campbell, who is an ex-pupil of West Hill commented, ‘All the kids were great and they really enjoyed meeting the presenters and listening to the book readings. One group actually asked for it to be read again so that was amazing’.

Kamal has very kindly agreed to come in to school in December for a special assembly with Years 5 and 6 to talk about his career and how he ‘got to do’ the job he is doing. We look forward to seeing him then.

In the meantime he has promised to let us know when the programme will be aired and we will notify all of you when we have that information.
