Diary Dates

Michael Rosen was brought up in North London by his parents, Harold and Connie who were to shape Michael’s career by their politics and love for learning. He started to study medicine, but realised that he loved writing too much, and switched to English.
He has had a long and varied career and has written over 140 books for children and adults. Michael was the Children’s Laureate from June 2007 – 2009. He does many things such as appearing on the radio and TV to talk about writing, writing books and newspaper and magazine articles and visits schools to talk to children and teachers. He has won many awards and been awarded honorary doctorates from lots of Universities.
In March 2020 Michael became extremely ill with Covid and spent 4 months in hospital. He has written about his time in hospital. We are very glad that he is still alive and able to write. We love Michael’s poems at West Hill – Mrs Atkin has been lucky enough to meet him many times and he is one of her favourite poets and authors for children.
