The Lollies stands for the Laugh Out Loud Book Awards. The Lollies is a funny children’s book prize where the winners are voted for by children. From the submissions that they receive, their longlisting and shortlisting judging panels whittle down the list to just 12 shortlisted books – 4 in each category (Picture Books, Books for 6-8-year-olds and Books for 9-13-year-olds). From these 12 books, Scholastic ask children to vote for their favourites, either themselves on the PopJam app or via a teacher or other grown-up. The shortlist is announced on the 21st June 2021, voting closes on the 10th December 2021 and the winners are announced in early 2022. You can find more information about the Lollies here:

Mrs Atkin has been invited to join their team of ambassadors for the Laugh Out Loud Book Awards 2022. As a member of the LOL Crew, Mrs Atkin will have early access to Lollies digital resources and will receive a copy of each pf the books in one category of the awards (i.e. four books on the shortlist).

As a member of the LOL Crew and ambassador for the awards, Mrs Atkin will send her and pupils’ reviews of the shortlisted books and involve the pupils in creating video reviews of the books (subject to parental consent). Watch out for her social media posts about the Lollies on Twitter!

Mrs Atkin and pupils will be joining Scholastic for the Lollies shortlist announcement on the 21st June at 11am. The virtual event will include a pre-recorded announcement of the shortlist from the Lollies judges, followed by a funny writing workshop with author Tom Vaughan.
