School Day

At West Hill Primary, we encourage parents to ensure their children arrive on time, as punctuality plays a crucial role in establishing a positive learning environment. Our dedicated staff is committed to providing an engaging curriculum that not only supports academic achievement but also nurtures personal growth.

Our school day:

• Early Birds Breakfast Club starts at 7.30am, entrance is through the top gate off Merton Road
• Our FREE breakfast service, ‘Magic Breakfast' runs from 8.15am - 8.30am
• The gates open from 8.35am to 8.50am
• Children line up with their class in the playground and are greeted by their class teacher
• They are escorted to their classroom at 8.45am. This helps to foster a calm and organised start to the school day
• During the morning, the children have a 15 minute break. The playground spaces have been developed to contain quiet areas, a garden, climbing areas and play areas. Playtimes are full of laughter. During break time, the children will be offered a portion of fruit or veg and milk. We feel this is an important time of the day and helps to keep the children’s brains active and ready for learning.
• The Nursery morning session ends at 11.50am.
• At lunch time the children eat and play separately.
  • Early Years lunch time is between 12:00pm - 1:00pm
  • Years 1 to 6, lunch time is between 12:15pm - 1:15pm.
• All children are encouraged to eat a school meal.
• The school day ends at 3.15pm, and children are collected from their class pick-up points in the playground.
• A range of after school clubs run until 4:15pm. 
• Night Owls After School Care, ends at 5.30pm.
